Start your career as a Multi skill Trades Operative with a team that will support you every step of the way

We are looking for Apprentice Property Maintenance Operatives to join our team based in Skegness.

Are you practical, hands-on, and ready to learn a skilled trade?

Do you want to earn a recognised qualification while working for one of the Midlands' leading property maintenance teams?

Join Platform Property Care (PPC) as an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative and take the first step toward a successful, long-term career.

PPC is part of Platform Housing Group, the largest social housing association in the Midlands. With over 50,000 homes and 120,000 customers, we're committed to delivering safe, high-quality homes and providing great service to our communities.

What you'll be doing

As an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative (PMO), you will learn how to maintain customers' homes to a high and safe standard. Day-to-day, you will:

  • Work alongside experienced Carpenters and Plumbers on first and second fix work
  • Learn a wide range of trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and decorating.
  • Assist with property maintenance and repairs in domestic properties
  • Learn how to diagnose faults and complete repairs safely
  • Produce work to high standards while providing excellent customer service
  • Build confidence and practical skills with the support of an experienced mentor

No previous experience is needed — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

Your training

You will study the Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship at Skegness College or a similar provider, attending college one day a week while gaining hands-on experience for the rest of the week.

Once you successfully complete your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for permanent roles within PPC. We have a strong track record of offering permanent employment to our apprentices, and we'll continue to support your development as you progress.

What we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong organisation and time management
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • The ability to work well in a team
  • A commitment to delivering great customer service

A full driving licence is ideal — but not essential to start. Because the role is mobile, you will need to work towards achieving this.

You should also live in or close to Skegness, as this is where the team is based.

What you'll get as a Platform Apprentice

  • Earn while you learn
  • Health and Dental Plan
  • NUS Apprentice Card (discounts and perks)
  • Fully supported training and development
  • Access to a wide range of opportunities across the wider organisation
  • Involvement in networking groups, events, and community projects
  • A supportive team that values your contribution

Working with us is more than just a job — you'll be helping us build strong communities and making a real difference to people's lives.

How to apply

You only need to complete a short application form — no CV required.
We'll ask you a few questions about why you're interested in the role.

If shortlisted, you'll be invited to an Assessment Event in Skegness on 28th April, which includes:

  • An interview
  • A short, friendly practical task
(You don't need any technical knowledge — we just want to see your approach!)

If we receive a high number of applications, the vacancy may close early — so please apply as soon as possible.

Please note we can only proceed with applications who live in Skegness and the surrounding area. Our teams are patch based.
