A Platform for Safer Homes. A Platform for Leadership.

At Platform Housing Group, we're more than a workplace. We're a Platform for People—for our customers, our communities and our colleagues.

We're now looking for a Director of Home & Building Safety to lead one of the most important functions in our organisation.

This is a rare opportunity to take on a key strategic leadership role, shaping how we deliver home and building safety, compliance and assurance across more than 50,000 homes at a pivotal moment in our journey.

Why this role matters

Customer safety sits at the very heart of everything we do.

As our Director of Home & Building Safety, you'll provide strategic leadership across home and building safety, statutory compliance, assurance, facilities and fleet services, ensuring our customers can have confidence that their homes are safe, compliant and fit for the future.

You'll also play a key role in supporting the unification of our Property Directorate, helping bring together our Asset and Maintenance functions, embedding new ways of working and establishing the goals and performance measures that will shape future success.

This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact across a large, values-driven organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading our approach to home and building safety across the organisation
  • Driving compliance, assurance and risk management
  • Create collaborative workplace environments to support high-quality customer outcomes
  • Integrate internal fleet services to support operational delivery and wider Platform colleagues
  • Providing confidence and assurance to Executive Team, Committees and Board
  • Shaping the future of a newly unified Property Directorate
  • Embedding a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
  • Leading and developing senior leaders and specialist teams
  • Building strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.

 What you'll bring

You'll be an experienced strategic leader with the credibility to lead at senior level and influence across a complex organisation.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience leading safety, compliance or property-related services within a complex organisation.
  • Deep expertise in building safety, compliance and associated regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience operating at a senior leadership level, including leading leaders and driving organisational performance.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant safety legislation and regulatory requirements, with experience applying these in practice.
  • Experience managing organisational risk, audit and assurance.
  • Experience managing significant budgets and making strategic financial decisions.
  • A track record of leading change and influencing across complex stakeholder environments would be ideal

You'll hold a degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline such as construction, engineering or building services, together with a professional qualification such as MCIOB, MRICS, MIFireE or similar.

What it means to be a Platform for People

It means being part of an organisation where people matter, where we work together to make a difference and where you're supported to bring your best every day.

You'll find:

  • A supportive and inclusive culture
  • Genuine opportunities to shape the future of our organisation
  • Flexibility to balance work and life
  • A shared purpose—creating homes everyone is proud of and places where people thrive.

Because here, your work doesn't just deliver compliance.

It delivers confidence, assurance and safer homes for our customers.

Where you'll be based

This is a home-based role, with regular travel (typically 2–3 days per week), mainly to Solihull and across our operating areas. You'll need to be ready to travel at short notice when needed.

What's next?

  • Closing date: 13 August
